Nutritionist spoke about a balanced diet and why the body needs zinc now.

The nutritionist noted that the key to well-being and strengthening immunity is simple - a healthy lifestyle and a particularly balanced diet rich in natural vitamins and minerals. And, importantly, a week of healthy nutritious nutrition is not enough to improve the immune system and taking drugs in a short time will not solve this problem either. The immune system requires the daily provision of essential components. And such conditions are created only by an adequate daily balanced diet.

If we talk about minerals, then among them zinc is especially important and indispensable for immunity. It is the second most abundant element after iron in the body. Our food must include foods rich in zinc. Low zinc levels lead to a decrease and weakening of the T cells of the immune system, a decrease in the lymph nodes, thymus and spleen, and to impaired lymphocyte function. As a result, the body's resistance to infectious diseases decreases. It is proved that with a normal level of zinc in the body it will be less and easier to run a cold. In addition to immune defense, it is this trace element that participates in many enzyme reactions, regulates puberty and cell growth. It affects the health of our skin, hair and nails. With zinc deficiency, the sense of taste may decrease, the sense of smell may deteriorate, up to its complete loss.

Why zinc may not be absorbed: 
  • excess cereals, cereals in the diet. Zinc in these products is not readily available to the body, since it contains phytates, which reduce its absorption (absorption). This is especially important for vegetarians to know.

It is important that there is enough protein of animal origin, without it, zinc absorption is sharply reduced. Therefore, food should not only be vegetable and carbohydrate.

The daily zinc requirement for adults is 10 to 12 mg. Sources of zinc are also fish and seaweed, pumpkin and sunflower seeds, almonds.

It is important that the daily menu is varied and combines correctly. So we can maintain the level of zinc in the body at the proper level, avoid the lack of a key trace element and thereby support the immune system.
