In general, women feel pain or stomach cramps before menstruation which can take up to 2-3 days, starting the day before the start of menstruation.
If you have experienced menstrual pain since the first menstruation, it is called primary dysmenorrhea. Not to worry, this is normal or physiological (body mechanism / physical).
Abdominal pain during menstruation or perceived dismenoreae every woman is different, there is a feeling slightly disturbed, but no one felt very disturbed and unable to perform the activity.
However, did you know? what is really going on in the body of each woman as she felt abdominal pain during menstruation?
Dysmenorrhea, this reason
During the menstrual cycle, the endometrium (uterine muscle) will be thickened to prepare for pregnancy. After ovulation (release of an egg), when the ovum (egg) is not fertilized sperm, the pregnancy will not occur, so that the tissue of the uterus (womb) that accumulate no longer needed and should be discarded. So then arise menstruation.
During the menstrual period, the release of prostaglandins and inflammatory mediators that will stimulate the uterus to contract. When there is a uterine muscle contraction, blood vessel around it will participate regularly shrink, reducing blood supply to the tissue and then later endometrial tissue becomes damaged and die.
Uterine contractions then continues to participate squeeze endometrial tissue that is old and die out through the cervix (cervix) into the vagina. Uterine contractions and a lack of oxygen supply while in the tissues surrounding the involved responsibility is to be the onset of pain or stomach cramps experienced during menstruation.
Women who have high levels of the hormone prostaglandin will experience uterine contractions stronger, so that the next will experience a more severe abdominal pain. Besides responsibility is to the onset of abdominal pain, prostaglandins can also responsibility is to the complaints of vomiting, diarrhea, and headaches that often occur during menstruation.
Dysmenorrhea, it normal?
Menstrual cycle is divided into four stages:
First ovum (egg) mature in the ovary (1),
then ovulation (release of an egg) (2),
egg will walk through the fallopian tubes (fallopian tubes) while waiting for the arrival of sperm for fertilization (conception) (3).
If the egg is not fertilized, will eat diluruhkan in line with the flow of menstrual blood.
