A wife to compete with her husband to lose weight within a month. After one month, her weight dropped more than the wife. And they eat the same food and exercise together as well. Why? Is weight loss women are older than men?
1. Sport
Men tend to have more muscle mass than women. Muscles can burn more calories than fat, so the men also tend to have a faster metabolism than women. Based on study results, men have a metabolic capability 3-10% higher than women.
In addition, women are usually afraid to become too muscular. Therefore, they prefer cardio compared with weights. While men tend to focus on weight training that can help increase muscle mass.
2. Nutrition
Regarding the food factor, it turns out there is scientific proof that the brains of men and women have different perceptions. Based on the study, published in the National Academy of Sciences (2009), although the lady said not hungry when asked to smell, taste and attention to foods such as pizza and chocolate cake, but the results of brain scans showed activity in areas that control appetite (unlike in men).
In addition, there are other studies published by the American Journal of Physiology of the brain biochemistry. In women an increase in the hormone ghrelin (a hormone which give hunger signals to the brain) quickly after she finished exercising. Whereas in men, the increase or the hormonal fluctuations do not occur significantly. Therefore, women tend to eat more after exercise and increases the risk of weight gain compared with men.
3. Psychic factors
Based on the study published by the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition (2013), women tend to be "emotional eater" or a meal based on emotional factors when compared to men.
The emotional eater, the feeling that they are more improved, tend to look for foods that are sweet, fatty, salty and savory which of course can lead to weight gain.
In addition, women also tend to "justify" all the way to lose weight. For example, with an extreme diet, detox, and other than using conventional methods through a healthy diet and exercise.
In conclusion, although there are factors above, as long as the weight loss is done with a healthy (such as keeping a diet and exercise), men and women will have the same opportunity to fight obesity.
