Why diets "do not work"?

The proof is obvious: at least remember all the advertising that you bombarded over the past few years and that extols the effectiveness of many diets. Think for a second: if at least one of these diets really would give the promised result, the problem for a long time would be solved. I would not have to write these lines, and you - to read them.

Think together, why diets do not work, so the next time when you will be persuaded to try another diet, you would know that this is just a mirage.

Outset that the word "diet" in this case means restricting diet (strictly speaking, "diet" simply means a certain diet, eat a diet to reduce weight, is - to gain weight or muscle mass). And that this is the main problem of all diets. You limit! You no longer have the products that you would like, or have as many as you would like.

If you do not follow a diet, you can eat anything you want and whenever you want. Food does not control your life, but it is a very nice component. At that moment, when you say "I need to reduce the amount of food consumed or abandon certain products," you bring a sacrifice. You will feel miserable and unhappy. Food does not become less important, just the opposite - it will seem ten times more valuable and more valuable than it would seem, the more unhappy and miserable you feel.

Thus, you run themselves increasingly strong chain reaction. This is comparable to torment the smoker tries to quit using willpower. Sooner or later, your resistance will run out and you succumb to the temptation.

If you are dieting, you constantly tormented by hunger. The idea of following a meal, determines your life. You feel miserable because you can not be there, but at the moment when at last the time has come such a long-awaited meal, you do not feel better - or because they can not eat enough to satisfy your hunger, either because the dish that you eat, do not you think it was delicious. Besides, usually you tormented conscience for what you eat more than it solves diet.

If you do not follow a diet, you can easily abandon anything during the meal or even skip the meal without feeling a special loss. But if you miss a meal at a time when are dieting, you immediately "write out an IOU" and notes in mind that this is necessarily compensate during the next meal. Dieting, you will never consume fewer calories than it solves diet, but often consume much more.

It is an accepted fact that, following a large part of the diet in the long run people will score more weight than lose weight. If we analyze the psychological factors that accompany the diet, it sounds nothing amazing.

Even if you are characteristic of iron self-discipline and outstanding willpower required to not step back away from the chosen diet and you really reach the weight, which set a goal when starting a diet, what happens then? Complete diet. Finally, you can eat whatever you want, and, oh, before you realize it, you will again weigh as much as a day when starting a diet! All these days, all these weeks that seemed years, full of self-discipline, a sense of loss and suffering, negates the next few days.

Recognize: diet only reach that food seems to be more valuable, and turn food consumption into a nightmare. The process of dieting and the accompanying sense of loss, suffering and failures make us shudder the thought of losing weight.

Remember: diets do not work. The real problem - our habits. I need a way of life, daily rituals and habits, including eating habits. Sow a habit - reap character. Sow a character - reap life.
