Sweat by exercising not only aim to reduce weight but also have the ability to reduce the risk of breast cancer.
Scientists from the University of Minnesota in the US, conducted a study with 391 subjects taking inactive women, healthy, and in premenopausal conditions were divided into 2 groups: control (no exercise) and intervention (exercise).
They found that 179 women in the intervention group, who do 30 minutes of exercise five times a week for more than 16 weeks, showing the changes in estrogen metabolism that can explain the anti-cancer benefit derived from exercise.
"This study is the first study to show that aerobic exercise affects the breakdown of estrogen to produce good material to reduce the risk of breast cancer" said Prof. Mindy Kurzer, a professor of nutrition at the University of Minnesota.
Sports vs. Breast Cancer
The researchers measured three levels of estrogen that is E1, E2, E3 and materials other estrogens in the urine of the subject. At the end of the study, the control group (the exercise) has a body mass index (BMI) and better heart health, the group was also found to increase the ratio of 2-OHE1 as much as 25% and the reduction in the number of 16-alpha-OHE1, which is associated with a risk breast cancer. These changes are not found in the intervention group (no exercise).
Currently, the protocol that has been issued by the investigators recommend that we exercise for at least 150 minutes a week, which can be compared with a brisk walk for 30 minutes for 5 times a week. Although further study is needed on the effects of exercise with a reduction in cancer risk, regular exercise can promote health improvement.
